In 1916 Gerardus Klinkenberg founded the pottery factory Katwijk. This company produced simple utility and decorative pottery. Characteristic are the grey, brown and green tones and the typical dripping glaze that is used. From 1930 Klinkenberg moved to Zeist, where he set up his own studio. Pottery factory Katwijk was taken over by Henk van der Voet, who changed the name to Voet Katwijk. Under the direction of Van der Voet, many ceramic Amsterdam School brooches were made that imitated hammered metal.
