Cor Kraat (1946)

Cor KRAAT (Rotterdam 1946)

Kraat was educated at the Rotterdam Academy of Visual Arts from 1965 to 1971.

From 1979 to 1992, Kraat worked in the artists' collective Kunst & Vaarwerk with Hans Citroen and Willem van Drunen. Kunst & Vaarwerk focused on monumental art in the city. Between 1979-1983 he taught screen printing at the Rotterdam Academy. Kraat was co-founder of the Black Cat gallery.

The most famous work by Kraat in Rotterdam is the Nieuwe Delftse Poort (1995) on the Pompenburg. Other works by Kraat are the painted lampposts at the Stationsplein (1972), the stained glass window in the Feijenoord Stadium (1973-1975), murals at the Ericaplein (1976), the Oosteinde (1980) and the 'ms Rottebocht' at the Zwaanshals ( 1989).
