Cornelis BRANDENBURG (Wormerveer 1884 - Amsterdam 1954)
Cornelis Brandenburg was a Dutch painter, draftsman and etcher. He was educated at the Drawing School for Art Crafts in Amsterdam. After his education he continued to work in Amsterdam as a pottery painter at the De Distel pottery bakery. After this he concentrated completely on etching, especially of the city of Amsterdam, which he would continue to do until his death. He eventually became famous with these etchings. Brandenburg was one of the most important etchers of the Amsterdam canals.
