Born as Erwin Olaf Springveld in Hilversum in 1959
Erwin Olaf is one of the most famous photographers in the Netherlands.
He makes both commissioned work (for the major global brands) and autonomous work.
Erwin Olaf is known as a possessed craftsman who puts enormous effort into his work and its preparation. For that reason, the production of his work is also relatively limited, partly because of the high costs involved. Work by Erwin Olaf is therefore exclusive and is often published in low editions.
Erwin Olaf has also made video clips and autonomous art films.
Erwin Olaf's work is in many corporate, private and museum collections and has won some very attractive prizes, such as the American Lucy Award.
In 2008 Erwin Olaf had a retrospective exhibition in the FotoMuseum in The Hague.
