Fred Brouwer (1891-1965)

Fred BROUWER (name variant: Frederik Louis Wilhelm Brouwer) was born on May 12, 1891 in Rotterdam and died on February 11, 1965 in The Hague. Brouwer was educated at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam and at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam; he was also a student of Nicolaas van der Waay. Fred Brouwer worked in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Voorburg, The Hague and Zonnemaire (on Schouwen-Duiveland). Brouwer mainly painted and drew subjects such as village and town views, figure representations, landscapes, portraits, religious subjects and still lifes. He was a member of Pulchri Studio in The Hague and of the Haagsche Kunstkring. Mentioned in Scheen, Jacobs.
