Georg BREITWIESER (Langstadt near Dieburg 1890 - Darmstadt 1938)
After Georg Breitwieser's apprenticeship as a glass painter, he was a student of Adolf Beyer from 1908 to 1910. Then, from 1910 to 1914, he studied at the teaching workshops (Werkkunstschule) with Friedrich Wilhelm Kleukens and, after his military service, at the school of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin with Emil Doepler and Emil Rudolf Weiß. After his studies he lived as a freelance painter and graphic artist in DA. Breitwieser, whose favorite subjects were landscape and still life, was a founding member of the Darmstadt group and was an important representative of modern object painting in DA.
