Harry ELSTROM (Berlin 1906 - Linkebeek 1993)
Sculptor, medalist, draftsman, painter and art teacher.
Elstrøm's father was a Danish industrialist, his mother an English writer. In 1913 the family moved to Dresden, where the young Elstrøm studied art history at the technical college from 1918 to 1924.
Immediately afterwards he enrolled at the Academia Britannica in Rome in Italy, where he participated in excavations in Pompeii. In 1928 he came to the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. In 1934 he started his career as an independent artist. Among his best-known works is the Calvary in the basilica of Koekelberg. Elstrom made a name for himself through his innovative work in the field of religious art.
