About the artistBeautiful paintings, strong compositions, great use of color, an atmosphere that takes us back to that time: the 1920s - 30s of the last century, when great German expressionists such as Grosz and Dix made a furore. After his education at the Kunstnijverheidschool, the Amsterdam Graphic School, the State Academy of Visual Arts and various scholarships for art development (Paris, Provence, Conil de la Frontera, Hanover and Stockholm), in order to really learn the trade, Jack received lessons and advice from the grand master Piet van Wijngaerdt from 1958. ( 1873-1964 ). In 1959 Jack de Rijk holds his first exhibition in the famous artist cafe EIJLDERS on Leideseplein: rave reviews and excellent sales results, followed by various offers from major galleries. After several trips through Europe in the early 1960s, he became member of Arti et Amicitae in 1963 and his work is purchased by the Stedelijk Museum, among others.
