Education: Jan Bezemer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. Lives and works in Rotterdam
"Master of the color lithograph" statement that does justice to the work of Jan Bezemer. In his own words, at least, Bezemer started lithography out of a lack of money, he did not have any money for any painting materials. This forced choice did not prevent him from pushing the boundaries of lithography. The innovations were more of a social and technical nature. Jan Bezemer's work was so groundbreaking that it attracted the attention of Willem Sandberg (director of the Stedelijk museum). In 1959, he organized an exhibition of Bezemer. Lithographs that can roughly be divided into two subjects that inspired him throughout his life, namely: animals and sportsmen. Jan Bezemer's graphic work is mainly small in print run and considerable in size.
