Johan Faber started his education at the age of 12 at the Minerva Academy in Groningen.
At the age of 20 Johann Faber came into contact with ?De Ploeg? and became a prospective member. In 1933 he became a full member of the Groninger Ploeg. He participated in many group exhibitions of De Ploeg and is seen as one of the most important members of this group of artists.
Johan Faber made a lot of naturalistic work and certainly later the Groningen and Drenthe landscape is his most important subject.
He is co-founder of the Graphic Center in Groningen that still exists.
Johann Faber's work can be found in many museum, corporate and private collections, including the National Art Collection.
