Krin (Karin) RINSEMA
Painter, graphic artist.
Krin (Karin) Rinsema was born in Meppel in 1947.
Education:
Rinsema took etching lessons at the Free Academy in The Hague and completed her education in the autonomous arts at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem in 1992. She also obtained a degree in psychology in Groningen.
She lives and works in Zutphen.
Krin Rinsema is characterized by a special way of working. Due to the use of aluminum offset plates obtained from the local printer, there is only a limited edition. She works directly on the plate and combines it with direct techniques, making each work unique, even if the work is numbered. For her paintings she uses old hospital curtains; material with a history. Rinsema uses these special techniques to pursue the expression of the right emotions. In addition to her art education, Rinsema studied psychology, which gave her a fascination for emotions and body language. In her art she therefore looks for situations in which people can no longer hide their emotions, as they often do in public. Vulnerable and wild situations are often the subject of her work.
Exhibitions and prizes:
Krin Rinsema's work has been exhibited in The Hague, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Paris, Antwerp, Arnhem, Groningen and Ghent.
