Peter GIELE (Hilversum 1954 - Amsterdam 1999)
Giele was a Dutch artist, poet, designer and interior decorator and an important source of inspiration for a large group of Amsterdam artists. Peter Giele founded various cultural institutions: gallery Aorta, disco RoXY, gallery W139 and his latest creation: club/restaurant Inez IPSC (International Private Society Club), named after his wife Inez. "Ab igne ignem capere" (Latin: "One fire kindles another") was the life motto of Peter Giele. Peter Giele died of a brain haemorrhage while riding his scooter, halfway between Amsterdam and the Gooi. His special funeral was extensively covered in the press. On the day of Giele's funeral, the club/discotheque he had created burned the RoXY to the ground.
