Designer Piet Hein Eek became known for his use of scrap wood. Eek graduated in 1990 from the Design Academy Eindhoven. With his graduation work, a scrap wooden cabinet, he saw the opportunity to continue from that method: reusing old materials to make new furniture and objects. Since 2009 he has been working at his own company where workshop, showroom, shop and restaurant are combined. Nowadays, Eek does not only work with scrap wood, but with various materials and textures.
