Aldo BAKKER (Amersfoort 1971)
Designer Aldo Bakker plays with themes of contradiction and challenge. Unlike his parents, Gijs Bakker and Emmy van Leersum, Bakker did not receive any training at an academy but followed his own path as an autodidact. In 1994 Bakker founded his own design studio. He also teaches at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
Bakker is not guided by concept, but by form. From forms he searches for image and object. At first it is not always clear what function his designs can fulfill. Construction and deconstruction play a major role in his working method.
