Jan (Johannes Martinus) van Druten, born 4-4-1916 in Nijmegen and died 18-7-1993 in Amsterdam, sculptor, etcher, glass painter, ceramist, medalist, monumental artist, painter and wall painter.Education: Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten ( Amsterdam) from 1939-1949 (with interruptions). Jan van Druten was initially a café-holder in Nijmegen. He won the ?Prix de Rome? in 1946. Van Druten bought a house in Schellinkhout, declared uninhabitable, in 1963, which he had converted into a house and studio. From 1965 he switched to sculpting. His sculptures were collected after his death and given on loan to the municipality of Venhuizen. He was a member of the Artists' Association ?Stuwing? and of the ?General Catholic Artists Association? (AKKV).
