After her education at the Free Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, Nell Heins mainly focused on painting landscapes where the place itself is not the most important thing, but in which it is about the atmosphere and the feelings that such a place evokes. You discover the quality of life by walking and being in nature. You can derive so many values from that that you can put the hectic existence into perspective. Nell Heins regularly paints the river landscape because she likes to capture this environment in images. She paints in such a way that you don't see anything familiar, but there is still added value to the painting. She has preferences for what time of day, for example in the morning or in the evenings, that somewhat foggy atmosphere, emerging or fading light.
