Born in Apeldoorn in 1947.
Thea van Doorn practices a lot of different techniques, but drawing is the discipline she practices most intensively. After Thea van Doorn left the academy, she always drew, creating a kind of drawn diary of her life. She sketches the people around her, at the table, reading the newspaper, on the beach.
In addition to drawing, Thea van Doorn makes gouaches and brush drawings with opaque watercolors. She also started working with ceramics and van Doorn makes graphics (including serigraphs, linocuts). In recent years her paintings have become more abstract in nature. Thea van Doorn has mainly spent the last three years developing her painter's handwriting. Van Doorn made a series of expressive paintings, made up of several layers.
Thea van Doorn regularly has exhibitions, provides commissioned work and makes illustrations for NRC Handelsblad and M Magazine, among others.
Thea van Doorn was educated at the Rotterdam Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. She lives and works in Rotterdam.
