Willi Hans Burger-Willing (1882-1966)

Willi Hans BURGER-WILLING (Lime 1882 - Untermaubach 1966). Wilhelm Heinrich Burger Willing, was initially trained as a decorative painter. From 1908-1910 he studied with a scholarship at the D_sseldorf art school until 1914 he was a master student of Professor Carl Ederer and Professor Eduard von Gebhardt. Pope Pius XI., whom he painted at the beginning of his pontificate, gave the artist the honorary title of Papal Professor. In 1935, the painter moved to Untermaubach near D_ren. In the following years he had a busy practice schedule, including in 1941 at the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich and 1949 at Suermondt Museum in Aachen. Burger Willing died in 1966 at the age of 83.
