Founded in 1914 - dissolved in 1947
Jan Bronner was a Dutch sculptor, draftsman of animals, figure representations, portraits and professor at the State Academy of Art in Amsterdam. Bronner taught at the academy for 33 years, succeeding his own teacher from his time as a student at the academy. In his teaching program he distanced himself from certain practices of the previous generations. Content came first for him, design came second. Bronner taught some famous students, who came to be known as the Bronner School. According to Bronner, sculpture associated with architecture was the only true form of sculpture.
