The Künstlerhausgenossenschaft was a private exhibition association. At the end of the nineteenth century, the Künstlerhausgenossenschaft was one of the dominant, conservative organizations. Some radical members of the Künstlerhausgenossenschaft were the beginning of the revolution of Viennese art. Among them was Gustav Klimt. Ultimately, the Vienna Secession emerged from this. In 1976 the association was named Austrian Artists' Society Künstlerhaus.
