Founded in 1881 - dissolved in 1884
The establishment of the Hollandsche Teekenmaatschappij did not go well with some artists. They saw this as a hostile act and out of dissatisfaction the Royal Society of Dutch Watercolorists was founded. This society was against the strict balloting system of the Drawing Company and applied more flexible admission requirements. In this way they wanted to give more artists and different directions a chance. After three exhibitions, the Royal Society of Dutch Watercolorists ceased to exist again.
