Founded in 1913 - dissolved in 1942
The Rotterdamsche Kring was an association in the general cultural field in Rotterdam. It was intended that the association "shall aim at promoting in general the study of science, philosophy, religion, ethics, and art, in short, of all spiritual life." In the first instance, more publicity was given to what was already being done in Rotterdam, and the Rotterdamsche Kring wanted to bring the existing associations more into contact with each other. Lectures and meetings were also organized to promote personal contact between members. After the Circle had a home, private individuals set up small exhibitions. Later on, excursions also took place. Eventually, the interest in the Rotterdamsche Kring waned, and the association was dissolved in 1942.
