Information about the artist:
Albert Isidore De Vos (Oostakker, 1868 – Ghent, 1950) was a Belgian painter.
Albert De Vos was primarily a marine painter: seas, harbours, piers, fishing vessels and fishermen's figures. He loved the sea and the fishing life and often went on night fishing trips.
His style was a mix of realism and impressionism.
From 1921 to 1926 he had a studio at 8 Lange Steenstraat in Ghent; from 1927 until certainly after 1934 in the Korte Kalversteeg 1 in the Patershol in Ghent. The Patershol then had a concentration of visual artists.
In 1905 and 1907 he held individual exhibitions in Ghent's Cercle Artistique et Littéraire. In February 1934 he had an individual exhibition in the Zaal Taets in Ghent.
He usually signed his works “Alb. Is. De Vos” with a dash under the last four letters of his family name.
