Een ditmaal gevarieerd werk van deze Nederlandse kunstenaar. De typische Hollandse kenmerken in dit schilderij blijven overeind zoals een vaart, een brug, een molen en een boerderij. Ditmaal is de actie leuk: De boerin die de schaapjes terug naar de stal brengt. Dat is op een haast impressionistische wijze weergegeven wat het werk een extra geeft. Weliswaar op doek geschilderd maar recentelijk gemaroufleerd op paneel met behoud van het originele spieraam.
De kunstschilder Anton Rutgers is geboren in 1920 in Velp. Na een verblijf in Zuid-Afrika is hij teruggekeerd naar Nederland en woonde en werkte hij in Bussum. Hij was autodidact en schilderde met name landschappen, stads-, rivier- en havengezichten. Anton Rutgers , is overleden in 1954.
