Arthur Rackham's most important works are the illustrations to Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm (1900), Rip van Winkle (1905), Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (50 colored plates) (1906), and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (13 colored plates) ( 1907), A Midsummer Night's Dream (40 colored plates) (1908), Undine (15 colored plates) (1909), the text for Richard Wagner's opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen ("The Ring of the Nibelung") (with 34 colored plates for The Rhinegold & The Valkyrie (1910) and 32 colored plates for Siegfried & The Twilight of the Gods (1911) and countless other books. Another classic, containing eleven drawings by Charles Rackham based on situations in William Shakespeare's plays. is an edition of Mary and Charles Lamb: Tales from Shakespeare for young people.
