During his long life, painter Bertus Voortman (1916-2012) created an extensive oeuvre. Landscapes, city and village views were favourite themes. He also made still lifes, portraits, figure and nude drawings, posters and set designs. Bertus Voortman from Zutphen was devoted to his city. 'I can never get enough of this city', he once wrote.
Throughout his life he has always depicted his immediate surroundings, his Zutphen. The harvest is very varied and includes many hundreds of works, in different techniques and formats. He shows locations that are still recognizable today, but also places that now offer a completely different view due to innovations. He recently exhibited in the Walburgis Church in Zutphen
