Bram Roth - Amazon with hat

Bram Roth, The Hague 1916-1995 Bronze sculpture “Amazon with hat”, 1986. Marked bronze: BR 86, and illustrations in the book “poetic sculpting Bram Roth” page 28. This book will of course be sent with the sculpture. Height: 23 cm, width 14 cm.
About Roth studied sculpture with, among others, Bon Ingen-Housz and Albert Termote at the Royal Academy of Arts in his own city and with Marino Marini. Women and horses fascinated him. He worked naturalistically but put his own stamp on the work of art. He was concerned with spaciousness, volume, tension and expression of the skin. Roth (1986) himself said: "My work, in which women and horses are the main themes, is naturalistic, but is not an imitation of nature... I play with the shape and proportions of my subject and in this way create a poetic spiritual translation of reality."
He has worked as an independent sculptor and painter and has been a member of the Hague Art Circle, Pulchri Studio, Verve, and the South Holland Cultural Council. Roth is considered part of the new Hague School. He was also a teacher at the Academy of Visual Arts and Technical Sciences in Rotterdam, where he taught, among others, Loek Bos and Tineke Nusink.
His work can be seen in the Gemeentemuseum The Hague and is included in the art collections of KPN, TPG Post and the National Collection.
