Beautiful shape, typical for the period (crisis period) - Snavelkan Kaviska, model number 623 - a design by Chris Lanooy. Pottery from the Plateelfabriek Schoonhoven produced products under the name "Kaviska" that were intended for the South African market. The name Kaviska is an abbreviation of "Kaapse Visch Combinatie," which refers to the export to Cape Town and the fishing in that region. This collection was specially designed for the South African market and was produced in the 1930s. The products often had a specific style and decoration that was attractive to the local population and tourists in South Africa. The decorations for the "Kaviska" line of the Plateelfabriek Schoonhoven were designed by Chris Lanooy. Lanooy was a well-known Dutch ceramist and designer, who often worked with various pottery factories at the time. His designs were characterized by a contemporary style and often by influences from art deco and other modern movements.
