Franck Muller was born in 1958. He spent his childhood in La Chaux-de-Fonds with his Italian mother and Swiss-born father. When he was 15, he enrolled in a watch school.

In the early 1980s, he graduated from the Swiss School of Watchmaking (French: Ecole d'Horlogerie de Genève). He then started repairing top quality pocket watches. Close to an independent watchmaker named Svend Andersen, Franck Muller became responsible for handling watches from Patek Philippe's collection.

The clientele mainly consisted of private individuals and museums. While working with complicated timepieces, he became passionate about their mechanisms and started thinking about building his own workshop.

Soon, in 1984, Franck Muller designed his own tourbillon wristwatch. In the 1980s, few watchmakers were able to make such complicated timepieces, including Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Franck Muller's private customers kept coming for new timepieces, and so his business began to grow.
Franck Muller's first store was opened in 1991 and his ultra-complicated timepieces became famous in Europe and the United States in one fell swoop. Today his factory, which is also the headquarters of Franck Muller, produces a limited number of watches for private customers. Franck Muller's collections span a variety of designs and price ranges.

All items can be viewed during the auction in our store "De Gouden Vondst". De Gouden Vondst is located at Nes 57 in Amsterdam (near Dam Square).
