The perception of beauty and optimism mark his early photos, while in later years the idea of transience increasingly resonates. Although he almost never used a flash device in his long, fascinating life, De Herder highlights in his book in short flashes events that are etched on his retina and in which he wants the reader, but especially the viewer, to share.
