Els van Westerloo - Form III - Sold

A unique opportunity to acquire a beautiful ceramic object by Els van Westerloo in perfect condition from the first owner. It concerns an early work from 1979, the third Vorm sculpture.
Els van Westerloo has not made these sculptures for a long time and they are rarely offered for sale.
This is a large statue from 1979 by this famous Dutch ceramist.
The sculpture is made of stoneware clay, chamotte, oxides, engobes and is matt glazed.
The value was estimated in 194 by Galerie Lieve Hemel at € 1,150, partly because Els van Westerloo no longer made them; she had switched to making bronze sculptures.

Her ceramic work never bears a title, but a Form number.
About this she says: "... one can see for oneself what it is".

Els van Westerloo, born 20-02-1945 in Amsterdam, sculptor and ceramist.
Daughter of Gerhardus Petrus van Westerloo, advertising and decorative painter, and Elza Kesselaar.
She is the younger sister of ceramicist Gerard van Westerloo.

Course : She was trained at the ceramics department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Pupil of Jan van der Vaart (1931-2000) and Theo Dobbelman (1906-1984), among others.
She graduated in 1972 with a final exam in ceramics. She lives and works in France.

Els van Westerloo initially made vases and vase shapes as a ceramist and from 1975 onwards she started making more figurative work: small plastics, mostly human and animal figures. In the 1990s she also made bronze sculptures.

Her work is included in the collections of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Centraal Museum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Princessehof ceramics museum, among others, and many private collections.

The statue can be picked up in Barendrecht. Pick up is strongly preferred due to the vulnerability of the statue. Within the Netherlands it can be delivered by appointment; the delivery costs for this statue are: € 49.50.
