Eugene Rensburg - Kolk Rotterdam

Rensburg, Eugenius (Eugène) Rensburg was born in The Hague on 16 September 1872 and died in The Hague on 6 November 1956. He lived and worked in The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Frankfurt, Budapest, along the Rhine, Danube, Seine, the Thames near London and along the Zuiderzee. However, he lived most of his life in Rotterdam. He was a pupil at the Quellinusschool (evening course) in Amsterdam and at the Academy for Visual Artists in The Hague (from around 1890) under the direction of J. van Delden. Painted cityscapes, aquariums, terrariums, etc. He made a name for himself with his topographical pen drawings. He was called a skilled city draftsman. He also made more than 5000 etchings, including approximately 450 of the city of Rotterdam. The municipal archives of Delft have several drawings by him and the Tax Museum of Rotterdam has 5 beautiful watercolours by him.
