Rare hand signed and numbered (21 out of 80) etching by the Belgian artist Frans Nackaerts (1884-1948) entitled "Sint Pieterskerk Leuven" He was known for his beautiful works of art that reflected the Hageland landscape. His oeuvre is steeped in the rolling hills, forests and vast farmlands of the Hageland. This area, between the Demer and Gete rivers, has a rich history and is characterized by its brown iron sandstone, which was also used for the construction of churches in the region. The city of Aarschot, with its church built from this material, forms the heart of the Hageland. The Vlierbeek Abbey, located in Kessel-Lo, also played an important role in the daily life and culture of the region. Frans Nackaerts' artworks often include houses, trees and bridges, and he leaned towards impressionism in some of his works. His talent and passion for drawing and painting led to a successful career, with numerous exhibitions and prizes. His work remains a tribute to the beautiful landscape of the Hageland and his artistic vision.
