About the photographer Fred Brommet (1924-2008) began his education in 1942 at the Nieuwe Kunstschool in Amsterdam with Alexander Bodon. He then chose to study interior architecture at the Institute for Applied Arts Education of Mart Stam in Amsterdam. After the war he traveled to Paris to learn the profession of photographer. In 1953 he married a Parisienne. Together they continued the now flourishing photography practice, mainly in fashion, ballet and advertising. In between he photographed the city and its people. In May 1968 they sold the studio in the Rue Fontaine (with André Breton as a neighbor) and returned to the Netherlands after Brommet first immortalized the ravages in the streets of Paris with his camera. The publication Tableaux Parisiens about this Parisian photography was published in 1997 by the Maria Austria Institute.
