Gerardus Johannes Jacobus van Vliet (Amsterdam 1880 - 1972) woonde en werkte in Amsterdam. Hij was leerling aan de Rijksnormaalschool (1900-1902) en later aan de Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
Hij schilderde en tekende landschappen en stadsgezichten, en gaf les aan onder anderen Bertha Müller.
Ger. van Vliet was lid van 'Arti en Amicitiae' en 'St. Lucas' in Amsterdam, van de Maatschappij Rembrandt en het Nederlands Kunstenaars Genootschap. Hij was overgens ook in bezit van diverse hoge onderscheidingen.
