About the artist: Gerard Wiegman was born on 16 September 1875 in Delfshaven. He lived and worked mainly in Rotterdam. He was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts there. Wiegman painted and drew harbour and river views with ships. He also made cityscapes, mainly of Rotterdam. He died on 28 June 1964 at the age of 89 in Schiedam.
