Rodolfo Gonzalez-Mele is geboren op 19 augustus 1928 te Buenos Aires (ARG). Hij studeert aan de Kunstacademie van Buenos Aires en behaalt vanaf 1963 vele prijzen. In dat jaar krijgt hij een beurs waarmee hij een jaar in Europa kan reizen. Samen met zijn vrouw Elena opent Gonzales-Mele in 1975 een eigen atelier in Baarlo.
