Heidi Daamen-Meijer , born 26 November 1940 in The Hague, sculptor, illustrator, ceramist and painter.
-Education: From 1959-1962 she followed the drawing course at the Rijksstandaardschool in Amsterdam.
As a ceramist she is self-taught.
In 1963 she married the artist Theo Daamen (1939-2021).
Initially, Heidi Daamen made small ceramic dolls. Later she also made figurative sculptures and tiles of earthenware and stoneware clay.
She also made work with chalk, watercolors, oil portraits, drawings and gouaches. She also illustrated books (including “The scared animal forest” by Willem Wilmink).
-Style: Her work is considered to be Lyrical Realism.
Work by Heidi Daamen is part of the collections of Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, Frans Hals Museum Haarlem, Keramiekmuseum Princessehof Leeuwarden, Museum Boymans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Centraal Museum Utrecht and many private art collections.
