Hendricus Nicolaas (Henk) Dekker was born in 1897 in Gouda. He later lived and worked in The Hague. He also died here in 1974. Henk Dekker mainly formed himself. He did receive instructions from HJ van der Weele and painted, drew and watercolored in a naturalistic style, including sea and river views. He was a member of the Dutch Art Circle and taught Cor van Heusden in Rotterdam. Works by Henk Dekker can be found in all parts of the world. He is especially well known in Belgium; he has often exhibited by invitation in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Liège and St. Niklaas. His work also met with great interest in the US.
