Origin Henk van Leeuwen's oeuvre is estimated to comprise around 5,000 works. It might be nice to mention that two of these works ended up with Queen Wilhelmina and this canvas with my grandparents. They bought the work between 1940 and 1945 in The Hague.
Henk van Leeuwen born 1892 in Ter Aar and died 1972 in Voorburg, was a lithographer, painter, watercolourist, draftsman, pastellist and etcher. In terms of movement, he is considered an impressionist in the tradition of the Hague School and the Barbizon School. Common subjects in his work are landscape, still life, portrait and cityscape.
