Bijzondere houtsnede van de friese kunstenaar Jac. de Beer (1888-1946) ter herinnering aan de legendarische nieuwjaarsvlucht 1933/34 van "de Pelikaan" van Schiphol naar Nederlands-Indie. Deze Fokker bracht de nieuwjaarspost in 4 etmalen, 4 uur en 33 minuten naar Batavia. Een snelheidsrecord. Bij terugkomst in Nederland stonden duizenden mensen haar op te wachten...
De houtsnede op rijstpapier is in goede conditie, ingelijst in houten lijst met glas. De afmeting is 40 x 30 cm.
