Jacobus Frederik Sterre de Jong (Amsterdam 22 June 1866 – Laren (NH) 12 January 1920), etcher, graphic artist, painter and draftsman.
-Education: De Kunstnijverheidsschool Quellinus Amsterdam and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam (1889-1893). He was taught by August Allebé, Bart van Hove, Rudolf Stang, Nicolaas van der Waay and Barend Wijnveld. He taught his daughter Maria Christina Jacoba Sterre de Jong (1904-1976).
-He lived and worked in Amsterdam, Amstelveen, The Hague, Blaricum, Laren, Zeeland and in London and Paris.
-Subjects: genre paintings, landscapes, rural scenes, interiors, figure representations, portraits, city and beach views, marines, still lifes, history and animals.
Jacobus Frederik Sterre de Jong is considered part of the Laren School. His work is represented in the Singer Museum Laren and the Drents Museum Assen, among others.
