Information about the artist:
Jan Baas , born on February 13, 1960 in Lutjebroek (province of North Holland, Netherlands), painter, graphic artist and watercolorist.
-Education: He studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam in the Painting/Graphics department from 1978-1983. After his studies he travelled to Ghana, Mali, Spain and Norway and this is reflected in his art in the use of colour and themes.
Since 1983 he has been a member of Grafisch Collectief Thoets in Amsterdam, a workshop for artists with a large printing house for lithography, silkscreen printing, relief printing and intaglio printing. He is also a drawing and painting teacher at MK 24, Amsterdam.
He received the Titia Buning-Brongers Prize in 1987.
Jan Baas is a member of the Dutch Watercolorists Circle.
His work is in many corporate collections, various art rental collections and in many private collections, including that of HRH Princess Beatrix.
