Schonk, Johannes Theodorus (‘Jan’);* geb. Schiedam 11 juni 1889, overl. Soest (Utrecht) 12 november 1976. Woonde en werkte in Schiedam, Delft, Rotterdam, Oosterbeek 1919-1928, Soesterberg 1928-1930, daarna in Voorburg. Leerling van de Akademie v. B.K. te Rotterdam o.l.v. A.P. Derkzen van Angeren, H. Luns, A. le Comte, S. Moulijn. Schilderde, aquarelleerde en tekende (pastel) met grote liefde voor de natuur landschappen, dieren (vogels) en jachttaferelen. Ook stillevens en portretten. Graficus (etsen, litho’s en houtgravures), veel boekillustraties. Kunstnijveraar (potterie en kleinplastiek). Gaf les aan B.M. Noothoven van Goor en C.J.G. van Oosten Slingeland.
