Beautiful painting on board by the Belgian fauvist Jehan Frison (Brussels, 1882 - Linkebeek, 1961).
Frison studied at the Brussels Art Academy. He painted landscapes, marines, interiors, figures and still lifes in a post-impressionist style. He is considered part of Brabant fauvism.
He belonged to the circle of friends of Rik Wouters when he lived in Watermaal-Bosvoorde, and was a member of the Cercle Artistique d'Auderghem. He made study trips to Paris and London and twice to Morocco. He exhibited with "Les Indépendants" (1911, Brussels), and with "Les Bleus de la GGG" in Galerie Georges Giroux (1912, Brussels), on the occasion of the Salon of La Libre Esthétique (1914, Brussels) and at the Biennale of Venice in 1920. Frison's work is in almost all Belgian museums.
A monograph about him was published in 1923 (R. De Bendère, Jehan Frison, (Brussels).
