Johan van Loon (1934-2020) received his education at the current Gerrit Rietveld academy. Initially he worked with textiles but from 1960 with clay. He is therefore called the most textile ceramist in the Netherlands.
The vase, unique, is built by hand from slabs of clay. High fired (stoneware). The outside is thinly glazed with different shades of brown and provided with white, oblique stripes. The inside is thinly glazed in white with brown spots. Signed on the bottom with a J and an L and 2 dashes, and the year '91. His work is in the collections of many Dutch museums.
