Michaux studied at the higher institute in Antwerp as a pupil of Frans Hens. He stayed and worked in England during the First World War and became acquainted with the work of Turner and Whistler. His pre-war work of sea and Scheldt views under the influence of Frans Hens was largely destroyed during the First World War. After the war he still found his favourite subjects along the Scheldt quays. His work can be found in the museums of Antwerp and Elsene.
