He worked in Amsterdam, among other places. Student of HAvan der Wal (Amsterdam), of the National Normal School for Drawing Teachers and of the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. He painted, drew and etched figures, portraits, harbor views, landscapes. Johannes was a son of Dirk van Dijk and Aaltje Mollinga.
