Severin studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and had close contacts with the Lier etcher Raymond De la Haye. He was influenced by artists such as Verstraeten and came into contact with C. Severin was one of the founders and secretary of the Antwerp Art Circle of Veterans (AKOS) after the armistice. His etchings and paintings often showed picturesque old city districts, beguinages and church towers, and he sang the praises of the Waasland, where he had lived since 1940.
