Carl Bianga, born in Danzig in 1930 and died in Hamburg-Rissen in 2015. He was a German graphic artist, draftsman and poet. From 1951 to 1960 he studied at the Berlin Academy of Art under Hans Jaenisch, Max Kaus and Wolf Hoffmann, who was a master student in the etching class and received further scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and the City of Berlin. He lived in Berlin until 1972 and then moved to Hamburg. With his diverse hand-coloured etchings from 1968 onwards, he made an important contribution to German Pop Art.
